Match Report: Under 16’s State Cup Semi-finals

Blue Mountains has booked a spot in the State Cup Grand Final after recording a nail-biting 2-1 victory over West Pymble at Berowra Oval.

The stakes were high and it was clear on the field. West Pymble applied some intense early pressure which was held off on multiple occasions by the Blueys defense. Not long into the half, they settled into the game and began to dominate the attack.

It almost looked like a goal was certain when Ben made a break and had gained the advantage on the final defender when he was taken out. A penalty was awarded just outside the box and a yellow card was given. Will W was up to task with his powerful boot, kicking the goal and sending the boys to a 1-0 lead at half time.

The second half started off with some amazing plays for the Blueys. Keeping control of the plays, with a couple of great attacks leading to Rhett kicking one into the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead.

Everything was looking good for the boys until a goal from West Pymble took the score to 2-1 and lifted their intensity greatly.

Goalie Jarrod made an amazing save, quickly stretching out and batting the ball over the net after an impressive attacking move by West Pymble. Another attacking play hit the cross bar, whilst defender Leon made an amazing save on another nail-biting attack.

Fortunately, their impressive defense held up, the whistle blew and the Blueys were the victors. The boys did their coach, manager, parents and supporters proud, providing an amazing display of great football, with the team’s spectator and fanbase growing with each game.

Onto the State Cup grand final for the 16 Blueys.
