Match Report: The girls all put in a superlative effort the entire game, right up to the last seconds. Despite limited subs on the bench and a few players nursing some aches and sniffles everyone kept up to the end.
Those in defence were stupendous, playing the full game, and holding together right up to the end. In the last 5 minutes, St Mary’s stacked their attack, but our dynamic defenders held them off to the end.
Ainslie was as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar; shutting down the stray attacking play that managed to get near the goal.
The backline (Lucy, Thea, Malia, Annika) did a great job shutting down their attack, clearing the ball, and supporting our attacking corners.
The midfield (B3, Josie, Lara, Ellie, Talia, Phoebe, Abigail) ran their legs off and were excellent at disrupting their attack, putting the ball through, and combining with our forwards up in and around the attacking box.
Our forward/s (Caitlin, Josie, Phoebe) were fantastic pacing the defense, creating opportunities, combining together up front, and putting countless great shots on goal. It could easily have been a 4-0 win. If only Bernice was able to capitalise on her opportunities, we would have seen a few more points on the board.

So, despite not having our illustrious coach Simon and missing Emily, B2, B1, and Kaitlin we have achieved our first victory of the season.
