Match Report

It was a very chilly and windy day in Hazelbrook and some brave parents stood on the sidelines to watch the Wolves take on the Hazelbrook Hawks.

A slow start to the game by the Wolves saw the Hawks go two goals up in the first half, but as soon as we started to use our run and concentrate on our ball control and passing, we worked back into the game, just going down 3-2 in the end.

Josh playing through the middle, ran forward and back and finding the ball constantly, was able to set up some early chances. A cracking volley from a long way out went dangerously close, just flying high over the cross bar in the first half.

Layla in goals for the first half, denied the Hawks twice with no-one between her and the attacking player. She also found her team-mates with some great footwork and passes after winning possession several times in the second half.

Lachlan found space out wide and made two really good moves forward with the ball around defenders and also showed great composure controlling the ball and looking backwards for an option to pass to a team-mate. A great second half performance in goals too!

Kynan played an outstanding game in defence. He won the ball continuously and most impressively, made deliberate efforts to control it and pass to a player forward in space, creating several chances for us.

Some sublime moves by Alex got us on the scoreboard in the first half but Alex’s game today was defined by his tremendous passing work into the middle, bringing his team-mates into the game and putting us into great goal scoring positions. This focus resulted in an awesome second half goal, Alex and Martin combining with three passes with Alex finishing off with the goal.

Martin played another great game and ran hard all day. He found some freedom to push forward more this week and almost scored twice, combining well with great ball control and passing.

Luke was sensational in defence and in the middle with a real determined non-stop effort all game. He dispossessed the Hawks countless times and also showed great intent to control the ball more and pass to a player in space, which resulted in scoring chances for us.

Player of the week this week was Hamish who had a great game, finding brilliant position up forward by running hard into space, which we have been working on and just narrowly missing several chances. Hamish also really concentrated on controlling the ball as well as constantly moving throughout the game which made us look like a much more dangerous team.

Great work team! Lets keep it up!
