Match Report |
OMG! What a game! WHAT A GAME! We had 6 players (missed you, Drew and Zac); they had 9. Seven play the game … you do the math. If this wasn’t the best game these boys have played in the couple of years they’ve been playing together, then it was certainly in the Top 3. Their efforts were relentless; their attitude was ‘never give up’ and they played awesomely well. It was such a pleasure to watch. Nathan Gregory had an outstanding first half and swapped with Christian Giles to goal keeper in the second half. Chris brought added energy to the team in the second half and passed the ball strongly to his team mates, up near the opposition’s goals. Jarred Gregory and Lachlan Yabsley did well in defence, particularly as they had to fend off more players than usual, and Lachlan’s game was much improved in the second half. Up front, Sasha Duetoft and Jacob Bishop didn’t stop (they had no choice) and, between them, made more than 15 attempts at goal before one finally made its way to the back of the net, for each of them Fitting rewards for the way the Hawks played today. It was a GREAT game; even the coach of the Springwood team thought so. He personally congratulated Sasha, by seeking him out and shaking his hand, something we haven’t seen a coach do yet. It was a nice gesture from our opposition. Boys, if you continue to improve every week as much as you have in this past week, you guys are going to be totally awesome come August! Coach Martin (Bishop) – thanks for the time you contribute to help train our boys; we appreciate it. |
