Match Report

The atmosphere before the game was electric as we lined up against local rivals Blaxland. Several of the players and supporters knew each other which added to the excitement.

As expected, the game was fast and incredibly physical, Ethan Ridley coming out on top of many hard tackles.

Blaxland took an early lead after the Ref missed a handball incident, and the opposition went on to score. We created several chances before half time; Ben Haywood was very unlucky when he couldn’t meet a wonderful cross from Tom Wrightson.

The second half was twenty minutes of Blue Mtns pressure as we desperatly sought to find the net. Urged on by a vocal crowd, we mounted wave after wave of attack.

Blaxland relied on the counter attack, which Gus Callinan, Oliver Magri and POTM James Harvie handled comfortably. It made for a wonderful game to watch as the ball moved from end to end of the field.

With minutes remaining, livewire Jack Higgins and Ethan Ridley created a crisp, flowing move and Tom Wrightson prodded the ball into the net.

While we were happy with the draw, we were probably the better team and it was great to see eight year old boys show such grit and determination to try salvage a result.

he Ovation from the Crowd at the final whistle was well deserved!
