Match Report

After a huge win over Springwood on Saturday, the Dingos went into Sunday’s Nepean Knock-out competition in a confident and determined mood. After a good warm-up you could tell the kids were raring to go.

We were a goal up inside a minute when Max Robertson pounced on a Joeys mistake. He added another a few minutes later and completed his hat-trick after coolly dispatching a penalty into the bottom corner.

There was more to follow with Lachlan Cassells finishing a great team move with an excellent finish from a very tight angle; Saxon Penberthy produced a thunderbolt from just inside his own half that bounced over the keeper and Harry Paag completed the 1st half scoring with a nice finish after a goal mouth scramble.

Natasha Watson, although with not much action in goal, did come off her line well a couple of times to keep Joeys scoreless.

Josh Filla and James Segon covered the defence with great authority and rarely looked threatened.

6-0 half time.

Natasha swapped with Max in goal for the 2nd half and produced a fine display moving the ball well and defending well.

Alek Catanzariti showed great determination and was rewarded with 2 fine strikes in the 2nd half and Lachlan, like all good strikers, tapped in after great work from Harry.

In what was a coaches dream, the team was fantastic and kept going for the full game, keeping their shape and playing to positions.

Well done to all the kids and parents in what was a terrific experience for these fine young footballers. Bring on next Sunday and a tough game against Emu Plains …

The only disappointing part I couldn’t understand was, after seeing that on the Nepean team sheet 9 signatures are required for it to be properly filled in (well done,   Christine), that they couldn’t even manage to find a venue that had nets on the goals.
