But the level scores lasted only one minute. Alex took a corner which was won following good work by Tom and Scott on the right flank. James C headed the ball goalwards, and the ‘keeper was able to stop but not hold it. Mitchell H was perfectly positioned to slot home the rebound to restore Blue Mountains’ lead. Eight minutes later Alex took another corner. The ball fell to James C at the far post whose well placed shot gave Blue Mountains a 3-1 lead which was the half-time score. Blue Mountains started the second half with more attacking pressure. After 4 minutes James C sent Alex for a run down the left wing. His shot was parried to Justin on the right who could not completely control the ball and his shot went over the bar. In the following minute, Scott started a good move involving James C which finished with Justin having a shot saved. Then 3 minutes later Scott had a shot saved after he connected to a good cross from Tim and in the following minute James C had a strong shot from the right corner of the penalty area which went just wide. But Blue Mountains couldn’t find the net. As the game progressed, Blue Mountains tired allowing Penrith back into the game. With seven minutes to go Penrith scored with a shot over James B’s head into the top of the net, reducing Blue Mountains’ lead to one goal. The following minute James C had a shot from the edge of the penalty area which went just wide but the game was now much more even and set for an exciting finish. But after soaking up Penrith pressure, in the last minute Blue Mountains defenders were able to clear the ball to James C waiting alone near the half-way line in his own half. He was able to take the ball forward, beat off a defender and then the keeper to score a great individual goal to finish off a solid win based on fine teamwork.
