Match Report

After the trials we were confident of a good season, and that feeling was well justified with a brilliant opening game. Right from kick off, our players were on the forward march time and time again, as we raided St Clair’s goal. The first 10 minutes saw a frustrating start as we missed a few good chances early on. Eventually Nick Schembri got our season off to a beautiful start with a thundering left foot shot straight through the keeper to open the scoring, adding another 2 for an excellent first up hatrick. Alec Chapman also got into stride after a couple of close chances, to slot home 3 goals of his own for another fantastic hatrick performance.

St Clair had no answer as the whole team were on song and combined beautifully. Crisp passing, smart running and calling were the order of the day as everything clicked into gear. Player of the Match, Molly Higgins was relentless in defense and attack, winning just about every challenge and putting the team on the front foot with some great through balls. Well done again to our ever reliable keeper Isaac Barnes, who safely stiffled the few attacks that snuck past our defense. Well played to our midfield Finbarr, Nick Giles and Sonny who provided the momentum for our forwards to create so many chances up front. The backs were rock solid and fed the ball to our wings throughout the game. Harry, versatile as ever, jumped into the keeper role at half time and produced a razor sharp display.

It was a pleasure to watch, and special mention to the whole team who played the full game without reserves. Despite this, they showed superior their fitness by running the opposition off their feet.

Looking forward to the next game against our old rivals Warradale.
