Match Report

The last Competition Game of a wonderful season.

We arrived at Summerhayes Park with a huge following, so many friends and family turning up to watch what turned out to be a great sporting contest!

We were well aware that Springwood needed a win to be in with a chance of winning the Comp, and we were determined to try keep everything honest even though our Coach is tied in with the Springwood Club.

The following fifty minutes had everything!!! It was fast, intense, and played in great spirit. The effort put in by Harry Burns would surely be equal to anyone who has ever worn a Bluey’s shirt at any level. He was everywhere!

Every boy rose to the challenge and for the first half we looked far the better team. Jack Higgins gave us an early lead but Springwood equalised with a breakaway goal.

Ben Hurley worked hard, Aiden Monaco displayed wonderful dribbling skills and Billy Moar held it all together brilliantly as Sweeper.

The entertainment continued in the Second Half and Luke Doughty was absolutely awesome down the wide open spaces. Gus Langworthy was his usual reliable self in the centre of defence, and with partner Gus Callinan, they make a rock solid pairing!

Sadly the game slipped away, but all ten boys should be extremely proud of the effort and all the hard work the have done over the past Football Season.
