Match Report

The mood among the boys was still confident, with lots of smiles, as we chased our first win of the Season. We knew we were good enough to take points off higher placed teams, and today we proved it.

Goalkeepers Noah Clarkeburn and Jack Higgins contributed greatly to this victory.

Watched by a huge crowd, Blue Mountains settled early and always looked the stronger team. Strong defending by Hunter Turl, Billy Moar and Angus Langworthy gave the opposition very few chances. Heath Stanners continues to impress with his huge tackles!

At half time the teams were tied at 0-0, and the boys were told this was going to come down to one, possibly two goals, they needed to give even more.

The skill level increased, and Noah Clarkeburn broke the defence, placed his shot wide of the GK but was foiled by the most amazing save!

Finally Ben Hurley broke the deadlock, his second goal in as many weeks, to give us the lead. The final ten minutes were nerve racking as both teams attacked each other.

The whistle finally blew, after a brilliant effort from all thirteen boys, we’d collected our first Win of the Season. In a really tough decision for POTW, it was decided to give the Award to D’arcy Salmon who, despite not playing in his chosen position, gave his all and had an awesome game!
