Match Report

Travelling out to the old turf farm, we knew that a win today would seal the League title. Key talking point before the game was Scotland’s update on his recent high altitude training…at Port Macquarie.

With a strong wind blowing we kicked off with just The Kaiser up front, with La Celeste still struggling from the previous week, hoping he was not going to be required. We dominated for the first half an hour, creating plenty of chances but unable to convert. Colo delivered a sucker punch with a well taken strike from the edge of the box. Intensity ran for more kilometres in the first half than he has for years and he wasn’t even playing – the wind, the open expanse of Cougar Park and the fact that La Cesleste, Noddy, Scotland and La Celeste couldn’t be arsed meant that Intensity played ball boy retrieving balls from all parts of the ground.

In a couple of minutes that turned the game our way, Leeds made a fantastic save to keep it at 1 nil and then launched a goal kick that was knocked through for Gazza to outstrip the Colo defence with his blistering pace and fire past the keeper. Before half time we put two more away – Ipswich following up a Nude Nut shot that was well save for what was most likely the goal of the season šŸ™‚ and Gazza being awarded a second for a strike that was deflected off a Colo defender.

Directly from the kick off for the second half Nude Nut dribbled through the entire Colo defence only to be denied by the keeper. More goals were to come though. A great passing move between El Capitano, Gazza and Nude Nut down the right hand side resulted in The Kaiser finishing sharply for his first of two for the half. Choppy got in on the act with a strike inside the box when under presure from two Colo defenders. The Grobbelaar-esque Colo keeper for the second half came out of his 18 yard box and strangely picked the ball up. Free kick given he then threw the ball to Gazza…who put it on the deck and passed it straight into the unguarded net. Very odd.

With the game and now the League wrapped up we dropped off a bit in the last 10 minutes. This was enough for Colo to pull two late goals back. Final score 7-3 meaning the total goals from our two games at Cougar Park 2 for the year of 25!

Well done fellas!
