Match Report

My writers block has been unlocked by an inspired performance this week.

After a draw last week with our old mates from St Marys we knew that nothing short of a win and good one at that was required to keep us in contention for the Grand Final.

With Dicky gone for the season, Kozy gone for a run to Bondi and Leeds working we avoided the "papers, scissors, rock" of the previous week to get on the team sheet. We had a few players carrying knocks – The Hoff (hammie), Merv (knee), Swing (groin (what else?)).

A bright start saw us go 2-0 up early on, both goals from POM La Celeste clinically taken. Harry hit the post as well with a shot from the edge of the box. Swerv was solid in goal as Glossodia created a few opportunities as well. Stanley surged into the box to run onto a pass from Ipswich but unfortunately had packed his sand wedge rather than his driver today.

In the second half we continued to push for more and La Celeste completed his hat-tirck from an Ipswich corner, contested by Harry and fired home inside the 6 yard box. Ipswich hit the underside of the bar from about 20 out with the keeper beaten and La Celeste hit the post from a tight angle.

Glossodia pulled one back from a corner but two more goals wrapped it up from Ipswich volleying in an Intensity flick on from a throw in and another from La Celeste rifling the ball back across the keeper after being put through on goal
