Match Report

It was a dark and stormy morning as the side took to the field for the last time (pre-round robin). We could only manage 10 players (with injuries and overseas signings) and were happily surprised to see the opposition in the same predicament.

With nudy-runs on the line, this game meant more to some than a grand final! Chris (yes, you qualify Chris!), Dirty and Slider all had "goal scoring" on their mind! Side note – to buck tradition, Slasher scored a goal this year and thus will not be participate in the nudy run. The G5 "terms and conditions" will stipulate this fact to avoid disappointment.

Anyway, a ball popped passed the flat Cranebrook backline to a charging Disco, for a one-on-one with the keeper. Left foot 1, Cranebrook nil.

Cranebrook then equalised with a goal unworthy of description 😉

Then, enter Chris (who had turned up late to the game) (and who will be doing a nudy run unless he can put a goal passed the opposition during the round robin) … runs onto the field and his second touch is a beautiful ball, also through the flat back line, to a charging Disco Inferno! A one-on-one with the keeper, and a right foot ball passed the keeper, for a 2-1 lead.

The second half brought less chances and required some grit. Enter the grit-men BK, Slasher and Slider. These guys stuck to their men all game and battled fierce skirmishes in their own territory!

Crank was always present – challenging, controlling, talking, settling and passing. You were rewarded with a strike on goal in the second half, which wouldn’t have come about without your tenacity!

Balls played a magic game in the backline, volleying all sorts of threats out of the danger zone and talking to the backline.

Dirty and Nathan operated efficiently on the wings with calls for both attack and defence (as always). Nathan’s rev up pre-game music is now Straight Line by Silverchair!

Thank you Tingles for erring on the side of risk – in taking to the field in the keeper’s jersey; at least two big saves and one massive chase down … not to mention your general marshalling skills.

Finally, a thank you to the supporters – some louder than others! All appreciated :).
