Match Report

It was a dark and stormy morning as the machine, that is the AA5s, arrived at the ground. As always, the esky arrived on time and with plentiful supply – the sun teeming off its pristine exterior.

A few of the team mates swear they received an email from the esky this week – so the hauntings of the said AA5 esky are not going away …

New to this week, the team got to try out the new Bluey (white) away strip. Strike a pose …  because as one spectator put it – they look hot! Perhaps she was only referring to Nathan’s jersey shorts (but you never know).

The game started well – attacks were forming and most of the play was in the opposition half. No ball was left to bounce of goal kicks and we used this to maintain play in the attacking half.

Unfortunately, against the run of play, we went a goal down. Then, with a golden opportunity to score, Tingles was pushed in the back and a penalty awarded against him!? Despite having a reputation for always making considered decisions!? – he walked into a sword unarmed and received a red card in return.

Still the Blueys fought on and kept ball possession in the opposition half. Everyone was putting in and we earned some good strikes on goal. GB had his own war, which was ultimately won with an opposition player being sent off.

The backs were clearing first time; the halves were putting pressure on the ball-players and providing good ball to the strikers; and the strikers were getting shots away.

We went down another goal somewhere along the way. Details, details …

Enter Slasher (Keeper extraordinaire) who threw the ball in front of himself before passing to Ghengis (I thought Slasher was going to attempt to run the ball to half way for a second) … Ghengis beats a couple of players before making it to half way … he offloads to Nathan who gets it back and in behind the defence. Ghengis does what Ghengis always does … and conquers! Beautiful goal.

The AA5s took the attack to the opposition right to the end. A good game all round guys.

Wednesday: last training session.

Sunday: Last game (local derby).

Following Wednesday – white board session at the Clubhouse (to organise G5).
