Match Report | Blue Mountains were unlucky to lose a hard-fought game by a goal from a deflected shot. Well-disciplined defenders Scott, Ben, Tom, Sarah, Ferret and Otis took control after a slow start while midfielders Steven, Alex, Tim and Liam gave good support to forwards Brenton and Ellie with good runs and pressure. Cranebrook scored after 15 minutes from a breakaway. Being behind sparked Blue Mountains to greater efforts. Tim made a good run up the left and then Steven’s run up the right resulted in 2 corners to Blue Mountains. The pressure paid off after 27 minutes when Brenton scored from a well-taken close range shot. It was now Cranbrook’s turn to pressure and on the stroke of half-time James had a shot covered but it took an unfortunate deflection from a defender to restore Cranebrook’s lead. The second half was hard-fought with Alex providing pressure from several good runs. The defence was solid with Scott doing well to cut off an attack under pressure, Sarah clearing well and James providing dependible goalkeeping and good clearances. But no more goals. |
