BMSC 12.5: 9

vs

Glenmore Park: 2

Match Report:
After 3 games where Blue Mountains dominance was not reflected on the score sheet, we finally struck gold! 9 goals with some good saves from the Glenmore Park goalkeeper preventing a result well into double figures.

The first half saw Blue Mountains attacking well rewarded. After less than 10 minutes, Corey won the ball in midfield, took it down the wing and passed to Michael who finished well giving the goalkeeper no chance. A few minutes later, Corey intercepted a Glenmore Park pass, ran with the ball into the penalty area and put Blue Mountains two goals ahead. The third goal well demonstrated Blue Mountains improved passing skills. Liam won the ball in defence, passed to Mitchell H who took the ball down the wing and passed to Michael who clinically placed his second goal.

During this period, Blue Mountains dominated in midfield and defence, with Alex, Mitchell C, Ben and Liam stifling Glenmore Park’s few attacks and Steven, Ferret and Corey providing good service to the forwards.

However Glenmore Park managed to score on a breakaway giving goalkeeper James no chance.

Blue Mountains next goal came from more attacking pressure. Mitchell H intercepted a goal kick and Aden scored well from his pass. Then Steven scored after a fine solo run down the right wing.

Blue Mountains went in to the break 5-1 up with Michael (2) and Corey both having shots well saved and Aden having another shot just wide.

The first goal of the second half was again a result of great Blue Mountains teamwork. Steven’s throw-in sent Ferret down the right wing, Ferret passed to Ben whose shot went in with a little help from the Glenmore Park goalkeeper.

Blue Mountains continued to pressure in attack. After more goalmouth action, the ball ended up with Aden on the left who made no mistake for his second goal. Mitchell H was denied by a superb save and Ferret had a shot just wide. Ben took the ball up on the right, shot from a sharp angle and his second goal was assisted into the net by a Glenmore Park defender. Blue Mountains’ ninth goal came after more goalmouth pressure, with the ball coming to Mitchell H whose strong shot gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Glenmore Park managed a second consolation breakaway goal but by then it was far too late to threaten Blue Mountains’ big win.
