vs St Marys
Opposition Score 5
Match Report Despite strong defensive play and some good attacking breaks, Blue Mountains were outplayed by a fast and skilful St Mary’s team who are top of the table. Mitchell C, Ben and Ferrett all defended well as did goalkeeper James while Liam, Steven, Corey and Mitchell H all ran well from midfield and Brenton was unlucky not to score.

For most of the first half, Blue Mountains were kept under pressure, with Mitchell C, Ben, Ferrett and Michael strong in defence and goalkeeper James making some good saves and clearing well. Liam, Cory and Steven were all persistent in midfield but the ball seldom reached forwards Brenton and Aden. Table leaders St Mary’s were able to score 3 goals while the closest Blue Mountains came was a cross by Corey which forced a save from the St Mary’s goalkeeper.

The second half with Blue Mountains at full strength was more even. St Mary’s scored a fourth goal after more pressure. Then Brenton broke through the defence and was stopped only by being brought down by a St Mary’s defender, but the resulting penalty was saved by the goalkeeper.

Mitchell H, Liam, Steven, Ben and Corey continued to run well from midfield and provide service to the forwards. In one attack, Michael did a good run into the penalty area but Brenton couldn’t quite reach his cross. However St Mary’s continued to threaten, and despite continued good defensive work from Mitchell C, Ferrett and Aden, they scored a fifth goal towards the end of the game.
