BLIGH PARK

Match Report

Games against Bligh Park are usually very even contests, and this was no exception.

With the energy that Noah Clarkeburn displayed, it was hard to believe he’d just stepped off a 24 hour flight from Europe. He pulled off a brilliant save in the second half, using his legs to keep the ball out of the net.

In the First Half, Luke Doughty pulled off ‘Save of the Season’ when he got his fingertips to a blistering shot, and pushed it onto the underside of the crossbar.

Gus Callinan Won POTW, bravely heading everything and tackling hard in Defence. It was a tough 50 minutes for fellow Star Defenders Hunter Turl, Gus Langworthy, and Ben Greening, as Bligh Park had some brilliant individual players, but we held them out.

With the game delicately balanced at 2-2, and with only a few minutes remaining, we scored a Wonder Goal. Harry Burns shielded the ball from Defenders and was brave enough to pass the ball backwards to an unmarked Billy Moar. From 15 metres Billy unleashed a high and hard shot that went sailing into the roof of the net. It completed a fightback from 2-0 down, and showed the never give up attitude of the boys.

In the Post Match Chat, Gus Callinan shared how he’s a brilliant cook, and William Cooke hopes to try snails on his upcoming Euro trip.

Heath Stanners added to the laughs when he quipped there wasn’t enough Pubs for dinner on his recent Outback Trip.
