Match Report U11.1 (28-06-2014)

Penrith RSL

Match Report

Mid week training had been conducted in freezing, gale force winds and the session was an excellent work out for the kids and great preparation for today’s game.

A tight first half, with lots of great defending from Alex Mills, Maeve and Kane at the back. In the centre of midfield Finn and Ash supported the defence well and helped us break away – on one occasion Con passed out to Alex Cranbrook wide left, Alex played it back into Finn who did well to find Aiden who hit it sweetly with his left foot on the half volley past the keeper.

Dom had an excellent half up front working over the defence on numerous occasions.

Just after half time the wind picked up, the temperature dropped and a few spots of rain came – same conditions we had trained in. We were under the pump for a lot of the half but defended stoutly. With the wind in their favour RSL got corner after corner – most were well delivered; we cleared well but finally one was touched home.

Damo had had a great first half in goal and was super on the pitch too – his quick feet and passing really helped us maintain some possession.

We won a corner ourselves and from Ash’s delivery Con reacted first as the ball was only half cleared and volleyed home.

Kane received PoM for an excellent defensive performance wide left in the first half and solid goalkeeping in the second
