Match Report

A beautiful morning ahead of the promised downpours to come over the following few days – great that the kids got to play before the oval was closed. Connor was feeling a bit better after a rough few weeks and came along to watch and cheer his team mates on.

Arwen went in goal in the first half and made a fantastic save diving away to her left when it looked likely to be a goal. Kieran, Xavier and Kane were solid in defence; Thomas did great up front making himself available for the defence and midfield to pass to and also came close to scoring in the first half – his deflected shot falling to Finn to put away. Maeve scored the other goal of the first half after one of many crosses from the left from Ash, striking the ball well.

In the second half Thomas went in goal and kept a clean sheet – one memorable save diving at the opposition’s feet to smother the ball. James, Arwen and Kieran all got a turn up front this week; all did a great job. Geordie played in a number of positions from defence to midfield and attack and did a great job in every position. Kane’s all round game continues to improve – dribbling has always been a strong aspect but his passing now brings others into the game and today Kane topped it all off with a goal.

An under-the-weather Riley worked well down the right hand side and got himself a goal in the second half. Ashton made run after attacking run down the left hand side, putting in many crosses for others and also bagging a hat trick in the second himself – the last of which was the best, running from midfield and shooting into the top corner.

PoW went to Thomas for good involvement and running in the first half and keeping a clean sheet in the second stanza.
