Match Report

A blustery morning game at Fortress Knapsack. Aiden went in goal in the first half and had plenty of action against a well organised team. Defence was fantastic all game, Xavier has really settled into the team now and shored up the right hand side well with plenty of well timed tackles. Arwen is our rock at the heart of defence; Kieran played at the back and midfield and was solid in both roles.

Finn was missing his central midfield partner in crime, Maeve, but found extra energy getting up and down the pitch all game. Ash and James both had super games out wide in the left. Up front Thomas and Geordie worked hard all game – Thomas coming close to a goal on a couple of occasions – it’s not too far away!

Ash got our only goal of the first half, cutting in from the left and firing across the keeper. Wentworth equalised just on half time; Aiden saved well but the ball was bundled in.

In the second half Xavier went in goal and had a great half, keeping a clean sheet. Only one goal for us in the second half, Ash has played with Kane for 6 years now and Ash’s second goal was definitely something he picked up from Kane – ‘twinkle toes’ dancing through the defence with little room to play with and passing the ball into the corner.

Aiden played central midfield in the second half and did a great job winning the ball. James had a cracking game – releasing Kieran down the right as he overlapped was the highlight. Kane has always been a solid defender and very strong dribbling but over the last few weeks I have really noticed his passing has come on leaps and bounds – today Kane was PoW for his defence and distribution coming forward.
