Match Report

A tough game was expected and so it was. Kieran went in goal for the first half and did a good job, only conceding one late goal. We replied almost immediately after great build up play between Finn and Riley, finished off with a long range shot and goal from Finn.

The defence was awesome all game – Kane and Arwen were both absolute rocks in the middle and Xavier and Kieran likewise out wide. Thomas, Geordie and James chased down many balls as we broke forward and were available for the crosses coming in from both sides from Ash and Riley. Finn played most of the game in centre midfield, dong a super job with both Aiden and Maeve away. Riley showed his versatility playing out of his customary centre forward role – right midfield, at the back and some time in centre midfield when Finn had his rest.

Kane went in goal for the second half and was solid, only letting in one on the break. With time running out, Ash jigged his way through two or three defenders and looked certain to score – the ball hit goalkeeper, post and bounced to Riley who just got his knee to it … a Blaxland defender picked the ball up, thinking it had gone in and a penalty was given. Ash stepped up and calmly put it away to the keepers left.

An excellent game played by both teams, a draw was a very fair result.
