Match Report Bluey’s Overcome Blaxland in a Spiteful game
In the local derby First Grade game, the Blueys downed Blaxland 2-1 to stay on top of the ladder.
The game was started of in a sportsman-like atmosphere, but after the Blueys scored the 1st goal, the sense was there that it was starting to turn into a spiteful game.
Blaxland fouled on a number of occasions and I feel that some of their players were luck that they were not sent of.
The players were frustrated and some of their tackles were not what one would call done in a friendly manner.
Josh Lowndes after retaliating by throwing the ball at a Blaxland player, who was throwing punches, Josh was unlucky and copped the 2nd yellow, while the Blaxland player was lucky and received nothing. Needless to say the lads on the Hill had pleanty to say about that.
Although the game was spiteful, the Blueys kept their cool and showed that a game can be won without being spiteful.
Scorers for Blueys were Mark Semeniuk, who is getting his name on the score sheet on a regular basis and Ian Laslett.
Man-of-the-Match was Tony Quinn, with a really fine performance.
The win keeps Blueys on top in the Competition ladder.
