Match Report: It was a dark and stormy morning … HMFY! Yippee, the O35 3’s certainly turned up to do their part to finish off the season.

We were 1 point behind first place, and had to win our game against third place … AND wait and see if Richmond (first place) had a draw or loss against fourth place.

Ready for a tough game, the team worked hard early to put the pressure on. St Mary’s were unable to steady as the BMFC team worked the ball around. Between Voldemort and GB, we had scored 3 to the oppositions 1 by half time.

The second half saw the same dedication as the first, and we put two more goals on, via the industrious Voldemort and GB.

Whilst the score line had sorted itself out, there was still the business of G8, short for, GEEOSSP 8 or the 8th version of the Greatest, Ever, End Of Season Soccer Party! There were particular players that wished to graciously donate cases of beer to the subject party, by being pinged for a foul throw. Thank you to the Dirty Turtle Doctor, which is actually three players and three cases!!!!!

A special mention to Frankie who spent a full game between the sticks. We weren’t expecting the scoreline we ended up with, and your guidance from the Keepers position was much appreciated. If only your ping pong skills were half as good as your keeping skills 😉

Boss had another game full of running – well done! And Slash had a good turn in the defence as well as the midfield!

Turtle experienced a moment with a St Mary’s player. It could have ended up poorly but, instead, they took a leaf out of my book, and had a little cuddle. GB was first to point out that “dinner should be bought, before any cuddling”. Please note this etiquette for next time Turtle.

As we found out, about 20 minutes after our result, Richmond had done enough to win their game … and remain 1 point ahead of us, to finish out the season. An unfortunate end to the day … but what a season. A great team to be a part of, as it allows each of us the opportunity to try to create that little bit of soccer magic … which keeps us coming back.

See you on Wednesday for training! No rest for the wicked … Eh Tomby???
