Match Report

Another double header weekend, starting off with a top of the table clash against the unbeaten Bandy boys.

Quinny was given the opportunity to play outfield as Zap went between the sticks.

We were on top from the start and got a goal as a reward. Rash knocked a through ball for Suarez and he got there ahead of his marker. The challenge appeared good as the ball rolled out for a corner but our luck was in and a penalty was awarded. Cometh the hour, cometh Marquee (as Ice Man was on the bench). Marquee and Forrest have an incredible understanding and this paid off as Forrest just knew that Marquee would strike an ordinary penalty that was saved and put in front of Forrest to follow in the rebound. It remained 1-0 to half time.

Early in the second half we won a corner which Rash, who had won it, took, poorly. Bandy broke quickly and on the edge of our box Pom stepped across the forward who went down, penalty number two. Tucked away 1-1.

Suarez hit the bar with a header after Forrest had challenged well for the first ball in. Zap made a terrific save from a shot that was probably just sneaking inside the post. Rash was clattered in a 50/50 challenge that you could see was going to be messy and after the game was off to the Nepean Hospital for a hip replacement.

With about ten to go a ball into box from Forrest found Suarez who was clattered by the recovering defender – penalty number three, this one though was clear cut. Cometh the hour cometh the Ice Man. Couple of steps and slotted into the side setting out of the keepers reach. After the game we hooked Ice Man up just to check he has a pulse – he does but as Pom predicted his heart rate is 6 beats per minute when resting and 5 beats per minute when in what most people would find a highly pressured situation, such as taking a penalty at 1 all with 10 to go against a team that is top of the table.

A tie for PoM between Zap (‘he’s not bad in goal for a centre half’ I heard our regular supporters say) and Suarez (won us two penalties and ran his socks off all game).

Final note. Ice Man will be holding a clinic on penalty taking on Thursday at 7.15pm for anyone who wants to come along, Marquee.
