Match Report: It was beautiful winter’s day to greet Werro and Cobra’s 3 mates from the UK, who compared the weather to one of their better summer days, one of them was dressed for summer?

We started with a 4 4 2 and dominated the first half creating lots of opportunities including a header from Tolley on the back of some good work down the left by Paul and a cross by Zapps. While our Pirate was unavailable Werro brought their own Pirate including bandana and Pommy had a watching brief as lurked offshore on the left looking for an opportunity to plunder if he caught a favourable wind. We dominated for the majority of the first half however it went unrewarded and unfortunately Werro broke down the opposite side to the distracting pirate and scored off a header on the back post.

We regained our composure and after a powering run down the left by Paulie he whipped a pin point cross to the back post where Sean rose like a limp atlantic salmon to produce a text book header downwards and rebounding off the keeper into the back of the net 1 all , half time “that’s the way to finish a half ” declared Sean and Quinny subbed him for arrogance, which gave Sean enough time to march up to the sheds and triumphantly put his name up on the fridge and off the nudie run.

The second half began with the Percy replacing Sean and his 3 mates went across to his side to encourage/ heckle his every involvement, it did not help his performance. We had an early chance with the keeper parrying out just behind the advancing Zapps and Percy. We have struggled with shooting this season and the Iceman decided to take matters into his own hands drilled one through a crowd taking a wicked deflection and lodging bottom corner, 2- 1 to the good guys. We kept pressing and Paulie was denied a penalty for what looked straightforward pull and to add insult to injury Paulie was penalised for holding back a player when he was in front.

Rash was in the wars today with some Spanish Arches giving him a shiner in the first half and having a severely bruised left breast after being hammered while standing in a wall, surprisingly he elected not to join the next wall. At 2-1 as the minutes ticked down we lost our way a bit and stopped playing football and Werro broke and scored an almost identical goal as the first half leaving just with 8 minutes to go.

This meant for some nervous minutes as we continued to turn the ball over and give away silly fouls including one on the just outside the box which the ref said would have warranted a card except there was only twenty seconds to go, Pommy suggested he should blow it up now which he did before Werro could have their final assault, the match finished 2-all.

Man of the match Andy Football our dual star having already played at his netball carnival in the morning.
