Match Report

First game of a scheduled six games in what shapes as a big June.

Kitting up, there were requests for spare pads and boots from Zap and Rash respectively. Rash borrowed JB’s and hoped the silky touch JB shows in them might rub off. Zap had left his pads at one of his fair maiden’s abodes but there were too many to remember which one so borrowed Suarez’s spare pair.

Full compliment today meant everyone put extra effort into the pre-match warm-up in a last ditch effort to impress Coach Joe and get in the starting eleven .

Forrest was upended in the box … Cometh the hour, cometh, oh hold up he’s on the bench. Dunny put in what turned out to be his quickest run of the match to get up from the back to grab the ball – coolly slotted away, Ice Man himself would have been proud of that one.

Forrest once again was having a field day down the left hand side and added two more cracking goals as well plenty of crosses in the first half.

As we dominated the game more and more in the second half, everyone who hadn’t netted this year was keen to get in on the act and get their first goal of the season, except for Zap, who has been banging them in on a regular basis.

Marquee was chopped in the box and quickly grabbed the ball. Ice Man was on the pitch this time but Marquee is Marquee (and we were quite a few up) – nicely taken, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Suarez had a blinder bagging 4 – they were all great finishes but the one that deserves highlighting was curled from the edge of the box into the top corner beyond the GK – shades of the real Suarez’s second v South Korea at the last World Cup (yep, none of us remember that, except our own Suarez of course)!

The opposition keeper failed to batten down the hatches so The Pirate fired one off like a cannon ball to pillage his goal for the game, aarrrr! There was also an OG in our favour and this time not after a Pom cross. Pom also got on the scoresheet after a great run, fooling the keeper into thinking a cross was coming but instead passing into the net – cunning as a weasel.

After the game Zap was kind enough to show us all his holiday snaps from his trip to Bali he had told us about at training.
