Match Report: A cold and early start to the season at a boggy Lawson Oval vs the formidable Hazelbrook Hawks.

While the decisive passing and forward drive of the hawks bested us today, there was some wonderful moments of play that the girls should feel proud of; and as the team gels together this season and our confidence in passing, calling for the ball and dribbling grows I am sure there will be some amazing games ahead.

A shout out to Willow in the front line whose speed kept the opposition on their toes, Lily’s surges of energy that drove the ball in the right direction, while Eliza’s accuracy and passing was paramount in creating goal opportunities.

In our mid field, Ismae’s unwavering drive dominated the tackling and forward surges while Bridgette found her strength in her speed and willingness to contest the ball. After bravely facing off some powerful saves in goals during the first half, Hannah brought fierceness into the mids and willingly threw herself into the fray. While Freya, who provided the glue for our attacking half in the first term of the game proved her mettle as our second half goalie.

Our defensive line were put through their paces under constant attack today. With Matilda growing in confidence to stand her ground, Lillian the impenetrable wall, proving decisive in the clearances and Zahra improving her speed to chase down the ball and intimidate the oncoming attackers

But our biggest shout out today goes to our deserving player of the match, Sophie, who stepped up to play in all positions today. Running tirelessly, providing solid contests, clearing the ball and creating opportunities.

The best is yet to come this season, keep up the good work girls!
