Match Report: A fantastic performance today by a team who are not only improving their individual skills but growing as a united team, relying on each other’s strengths and having each other’s backs.

After a few close calls early in the first half saw our goalie, Freya, under pressure, our girls lifted their game to turn the ball, sending it from the back to our speedster forward, Willow, who found the gap to land the first score on the board today. While Blaxland fought back to equalise, Millie found her power kick was too much for the Blaxland defence and put us in the strong position going into the half time break 2-1.

Our brick wall defence of Lillian, Sophie & Zahra ensured that all the Blaxland attacking efforts were thwarted in the second half, protecting quick footed Hannah in the goal square. While Bridgette, Millie, Hannah & Dee applied relentless pressure in the midfield to ensure our attackers had plenty of forward drive and create goal scoring opportunities.

Eliza and Tilly held down the wings today, withstanding fierce tackles and keeping up the speed to ensure the ball was in constant motion. While the clean passes and persistent drive of our forward line saw Ismae, Lily, Willow & Freya creating many goal scoring opportunities, with Freya finally breaking through the Blaxland defence to secure the 3-1 win.

Our standout player of the match today was Lily, who neither let size nor speed intimidate her. Weaving in and out of the opposition’s legs to clear the ball and pass seamlessly to her teammates.
