Match Report: After a few really tough weeks, the girls channelled their “warrior princess” power from all the female football week promotions this week and stepped it up a notch today to give the spectating crowd a truly close match to enjoy.

Taking the coach’s advice on board, our mighty defenders Isla, Chloe, Anabelle & Sophia didn’t shy away from a challenge and put on a lot of fierce contests to pressure the ball from our opposition, helping to keep the pressure off our rising star goalie, Audrey.

Holding down the midfield, Matilda & Tirzah continue to impress with their increasing stamina and never say die attitudes, covering the length of the field many times over and still finding the steam to be part of today’s very exciting attempts at shots on goals. Xanthe found her feet in the sweeper position this week, helping to clear the ball out of the fray and turn it to our eager forwards, Abi & Torla who this week were able to increase our goal scoring chances with some long anticipated shots.

After some fierce contest from Jordan Springs saw them take an early lead today, the girls didn’t give up and we finally netted an equaliser, coming out of a sea of blue in the goal square. The girls then kept the pressure up, for a heart in mouth second half, to sadly go down in one final play that didn’t go our way today.

Keep up the good work girls, while the score didn’t go our way today, the improvement in your team play and effort made for a truly heart stopping match! Our very deserving player of the match this week goes to Tirzah, who brought her A game and was instrumental in tackling the ball and driving our forward advances.
