Match Report: Solid 3-0 win to start the competition. Overall, good , gritty performance in testing conditions.
Early on, the girls showed that they wanted it more than RSL, winning most 50-50s all over the park.
Soon the reward came with a crisply hit shot from veteran striker Romy Thompson, to make it 1-0.
The middle third of the game, the girls lost their way a bit, struggling to execute the passes successfully, which brought RSL back into the contest.
However, once the passing game came together into the second half, the result was never in doubt.
A well taken goal by the Bridie Witjes (Who got through more steps than Cliff Young) and then a well taken penalty by Young Gun striker Tilly Merriman sealed the points.
It was a quiet day for Rambo in goals due to a solid and well organized defence.
A special mention for Sophia (The Robot), who never stopped throughout the game. Her tenacity to win the ball, deliver good passes and get forward was outstanding. She deservedly collected a staggering 12 MVP votes from her team \mates. (It would’ve been 13 if the Gaffa got a vote).
