Match Report

It was a dark and stormy afternoon that the Bluey’s took to the field against Cranebrook. And what an afternoon of soccer it was!

The team brought its A-game for 90 minutes and came very close to stealing a point or 3. A massive improvement all over the park saw the team attack harder as the game progressed.

Liam returned from injury; Justin gambled on his wife not giving birth; Crusty/Tingles and possibly others played with injuries; and Crank, Dez, Taxman, Heather and Bree cheered/read books/drank from the sidelines.

Working hard & together the team gained control. Chances came from all over the park "Nathan-shot, Justin-shot, Disco-shot, Tingles-shot, GB-header, BK-just-needed-any-deflection-and-if-anyone-was-going-to-be-able-to-get-a-touch-on-the-ball-it-was-going-to-be-BK-but-he-couldn’t".

Niall and Crusty worked hard to get control and lay off passes to feet, setting the scene.

Black Spider made a few late-in-the-half runs down the sideline and Disco made his feet for one of these (with some luck). Of course, after running for 80 minutes and sprinting for the last of these makes for a difficult cross (as one leg says to the other "you’re kidding right?")!

Denty put in a few torpedo runs up the park and one of these days (perhaps in these finals) he will find himself with a one-on-one opportunity. The only question is "will he chip or shoot to the side?"

Hard work occurred all over the park – Jason made a number of runs and at one point put a magic cross in. The headband certainly earned its money this week.

Hats off to the Cranebrook striker –  the only difference between our teams. It’s pretty special/depressing to see such players on the field, and, to limit him to two or so shots was a great achievement.

It is fantastic to be playing when we lift the way we did. The way we play on the weekend is reflected in the way we train, so let’s work hard.
