Match Report: A very blustery day for our last league game of the season. We hosted Penrith who had taken us apart in the heat back in April

The boys knew that a loss would guarantee bottom two and likely relegation for next season. A win guaranteed div 1 football and a draw left it down to other results

A game plan was put in place to try and stop their most dangerous two players with Keastie moved out of his favoured left back position to the centre of defence. Dom was to mark one of their central midfielders. Hamish was today’s Captain

We dominated the opening 15 minutes and created two good chances. Alex beat two defenders out on the left and bore down on goal – his shot going across the face of goal. Aidy used his quick feet in the box to get an opening that was well saved

We went a goal down soon after from a good finish in a busy box

There were some excellent first half performances – James playing in a position he has not played at all year, left back, did not put a foot wrong against some big strong players he really got stuck in. Oli and Alex combined well up front to create openings

We made limited changes at half time – Keastie dropping back to left back and Dom dropping into the centre of defence. Eli stayed in goal – his speed off the line and cleaning up had been excellent and our biggest concern was the centre forward getting in behind + Jake was having a blinder in midfield, winning balls and distributing well

We continued to play in the ascendency and remained largely untroubled at back. The equalizer came through a break from midfield from Millsy & a quick interchange with Oli – Millsy finishing well past the keeper

With our tails up we camped in their half for the last ten. Sam, who was a rock at centre half, went up for a corner and got a shot away, just wide. Oli put a super cross in for Damo who headed well but over

The game ended and the boys were a little disappointed not to have won. The way they have played the last three weeks has been top drawer. We have our fingers crossed results now go our way. Looking forward to giving the semi’s a real good crack

Player of the week, shared between man marker Keastie and wing wizard Alex. In truth any of the 12 could have won it this week
