Match Report: With three out for the week, Max and Caleb were borrowed from the 12’s to ensure we had a full team.

For the first time the boys were asked to meet in the changing rooms prior to the game to receive their shirts, find out where they were playing and to listen to the Coach’s drivel (sorry, inspiring words!). The boys seemed to enjoy the experience and were keen to come back to the sheds post game for the debrief. As can be seen in the photo, Keastie walked in and admired and old piece of art work of the original Devil Blueys logo – he said ‘that’s really cool’ – he was then told it was his old man that created it many years ago!

Caleb went in goal in the first half and once again excelled. The only goal conceded after a great save, the follow up was put away.

The defence was solid with Millsy as sweeper, Damo just in front and Hamish on the right. Keastie at left back had an absolutely barn storming first half – the passion and conviction shown in challenge after challenge showed the rest of the team what was required.

In midfield Oli excelled, making strong runs into the opposition half and combining well with James who was playing up front.

Jake and Eli worked well together in the centre of midfield in the first half. Eli went in goal in the second and Jake dropped back into the back four.

In the second half we equalized and the goal was well crafted. Aidan received the ball in the centre of midfield, played a neat one two with Damo to get past the defender and then sent a lovely pass down the right wing for the ever willing Alex Crambrook to run onto. Alex cut his defender well and crossed with his less favoured right peg (well done Alex!) for Damo to arrive late and knock the ball in.

Springwood scored their winner in the last ten minutes off a corner.

The boys are playing really well and as a Coach I am proud of the effort shown at both training and game day – keep it up kids.
