Match Report: With Liam and Keastie out with illness we fielded the bare 11. Jake went in goal for the first half and Eli was Captain for the day

It was noted in the pre match team talk that we needed to match Hazelbrook’s known physicality early

In a must win game we moved to a back three of Sam, Aidan & Alex pushing Dom in to mark the centre forward. This allowed Millsy to move in centre mid. Aidan and Alex were superb, really working hard to nullify their opponent. Dom also did an excellent marking job allowing Sam to sweep up well behind the back three. Unfortunately though we fell behind just before half time

In the second half Eli went in goal, Jake coming out to play up front with Dom. We dominated the opening minutes of play but could not find the net. We finally equalized when Millsy put a high ball into the box which Jake connected with his head – again a good example of doing something drilled in at training – ‘get something on it every time’ being the instruction!

We didn’t stay level for long falling behind again after a ball was pulled back from the by line. We couldn’t find an equalizer so sadly went down for the second week of the semi’s

The boys all worked well for each other today but didn’t get the goals that they needed when dominating for long periods in the second half. One game to go, which we will be training hard for as usual to cap off a great season
