Match Report: With Finn away & Keastie crook, Max was drafted in from the under 11’s to give us one sub

Ash was deployed at centre back to counter the pace of the oppositions centre forward. This worked well with Ash sweeping in behind the ever reliable Millsy alongside him

We started on the defensive (which seems to be a consistent theme!) & fell behind after a high ball was not cleared. This seemed to spark us into life as we got into the game and onto the attack ourselves. Liam was clearing well from left back & Max started getting at the defence down the left. We equalized from a corner from Jake that was put into the danger area by the penalty spot as we have practiced and Chris hit it sweetly on the volley with his left giving the keeper no chance (photo below shows the despairing dive from the keeper, Chris out of shot)

The rest of the half was evenly matched. Max hit the post after a good run down the left. Penrith re-took the lead just on half time

Jake replaced Eli in goal for to second half. We reverted to a back three to try & dominate the midfield a bit more

Alex, Damo & Chris combined well to put Chris away down the left on a few occasions. We had our share of possession & also a bit of luck with the equalizing goal. Millsy cut inside his defender in the box & hit his shot well. Keeper beaten it hit the underside of the bar & bounced clear. To everyone’s surprise the referee adjudged the ball to have gone over the line

Ash hit the outside of the post from a long range effort after being moved into midfield from the back. Damo & Sam both made great sliding tackles in the box to deny the opposition. Jake made a sharp save late on to keep the scores level
