Match Report: A tough challenge for the boys against a Colo team that had won every game this season

Defensively we were excellent all game with with Keastie, Hamish, Sam, Dom & defensive midfielder Millsy working their socks off to deny the opposition time. What was really pleasing was the way we passed our way out from the back and this allowed us to get forward and create a number of opportunities. Aidan’s creative influence combined with a high work rate ensured he had a big influence on the game. Liam, playing as the lone striker, had two great efforts saved by the keeper in the first half. Wingers Alex and Oli caused problems all game with their pace. We fell behind but hit back when Alex and Oli combined for Oli to poke home

Jake had a great half in the centre of midfield and swapped with Eli to take the gloves in the second half. Eli had cleaned up as keeper a number of times and made some super saves

The score line remained the same until about ten to go when we fell behind. We had a great chance to equalize after an adjudged back pass to the keeper gave us an indirect free kick on the edge of the six yard box. Millsy tapped to Damo who fired home but the ref wanted it retaken, I think as the defence advanced too quickly – surely that should have been let go, seeing as we scored. The second Damo effort went wide as Millsy’s touch was a little heavy

Colo got a late third to seal the points

One of our best performances of the season, with luck we could have got something out of the game and we definitely deserved that. With two games to go we need two more performances like that and we can still avoid being in the bottom two

Player of the week to Millsy – solid defensively, as many were, but what got the nod was the distribution out from the back that put us quickly on the offensive time and again
