Match Report: The evening before the game, the final training session was turned over to a fun competitive challenge night. Five challenges – crossbar challenge, chip in the bin, throw in the bin, nearest the pin & penalty shoot out. Prizes for all were on offer. A close finish with Aidan, Liam and Sam all tied at the top of the leader board

The next morning our final game of the season and with no chance of making the GF the coach asked the boys to put in a solid performance to cap off a great season

Jake was in goal and Captain for the day. Dom and Ash were given specific roles to pick up Bligh Park’s two most creative players – both did a terrific job helping to keep the opposition scoreless in the first half. We defended really well, Sam, Damo and Will as the back three. We also broke away on a number of occasions – most notable seeing Eli playing a through ball perfectly in behind the defence for Liam to run onto

In the second half we went behind early through a scrambled goal from a corner and a second just after to a well taken shot

The boys continued to battle away, Millsy, Finn & Aidan in the midfield challenging for everything, Chris, Liam & Alex up front working hard to create openings but couldn’t get back into the game – the story of our semi’s really, just never got going

After the game the boys all poured their water bottles over the coach (thank goodness it was a nice warm day!)

A great first competitive season. All the boys worked hard at training, have improved their skills and knowledge of the game and most importantly have had great fun and developed friendships. Thank you to all the parents for getting the boys to training & games & putting nets up; thank you to Lyn for running fitness & agility training every week & pre-game warm up; thanks to Laura as Manager; thank you to the many Dad’s that chipped in and helped with training
