Match Report |
Happy to avoid a 9am start, we arrived with the bare seven players at Wentworth Falls. On a big pitch and against ten players this was going to be a really good test. Maeve went in goal in the first half and did a great job, keeping a clean sheet. Defensively, we were very good today, particularly Arwen, Con and Kane who thwarted the opposition on many occasions with some tough tackling and intercepts. Finlay was superb in the centre of midfield, tackling and making attacking runs down the wing. Kane’s dribbling was rewarded with a goal. At the end of the first half, a great long ball from defence from Connor saw James racing away – he struck it beautifully to score a good goal. Riley went between the sticks in the second half and made two excellent saves. Maeve was pushed up front and came close to scoring on a number of occasions. Strong defence was rewarded with a break away goal to Finlay to wrap up a a solid, hard working performance from everyone. As they came off, you could see they were all very tired!
