Match Report

On a sunny Sunday morning, the Dingos travelled to Mulgoa to take on Emu Plains. There was a bit of tension in the air, mostly from the coach and parents; the kids seemed excited and ready to go.

A bad start when Natasha Watson told mum she had forgotten her boots, (well done, Sue … Mulgoa to Glenbrook and back in half an hour – impressive). Natasha started in goal, was rock solid and distributed the ball well.

We knew we had to start well and Max Robertson got an early goal with a nice finish after a bit of a scramble. Although our 1st half wasn’t as well as we could play, the players stuck to the task and the game plan well, keeping Emu’s attacking players very quiet.

1-0 half time.

Although we had been quite comfortable in the 1st half, the score meant it was still all to play for in the 2nd.

A half time drink, some fruit and words of encouragement from all connected and the kids went out for the 2nd half.

Again, a very tight game with few chances and the tension was building.

With about 2 minutes to go – the moment of the match. Emu’s danger player (who had been kept very quiet by some terrific Dingo’s defence), picked up a loose ball and cut onto his right foot before smashing a shot towards the bottom corner. James Segon, who had gone in goal for the 2nd hal,f reacted with a terrific one handed reflex save and turned the ball away for a corner. Truly a brilliant stop.

The Dingos played out the final few seconds and came away with a impressive hard fought victory.

Lachlan Cassells and Harry Paag toiled away up-front and Saxon Penberthy, Max Robertson and Alek Catanzariti ran their socks off in midfield.

Natasha Watson and James Segon defended well when not in goal and Josh Filla was excellent in defence, shutting down Emu’s attackers time and time again.

The kids had to fight hard for the win and should be proud of their effort.

WELL DONE DINGOS !!!!!!!!!!

Next Up: Semi final vs Richmond.
