Sunday Fun one On a glorious Sunday afternoon at Knapsack Oval saw the reverse tie again Wentworth fall. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know but suffice to say we knew the opposition well. Some minor team and positional adjustments in lieu of the returning holiday maker Wade saw Ben resume part time goal keeping duties and Morgan in the field, a change from striker to sweeper for Brendan and Rebecca was today’s striker. As sweeper Brendan was outstanding and pretty much shut down the opposition strikers with few-recorded raids on goal by the opposition. A quiet return to goals for Ben. Dan Mc impressed in central mid as Michael and a jet lagged Wade. The backs Olivia Tim and Katie were at their usual unforgiving selves and directed with high efficiency by the general (Dan L) and in truth the game was played in a compressed midfield forward. An early second half eleven metre goal by Ben and then retaken by Ben in exactly the same spot (Michael please stay on side) was just rewards for the relentless attack of Ashley, Brianna and Rebecca. All credit to Wenty Falls backs for their defensive efforts. It was in fact the continual surges forward by Brianna and Ashley that wore the backs down and allowed an unselfish Wade to put a through ball to Rebecca who tucked away a second goal in the corner and put the game beyond doubt. Jordan Morgan and Hanna ran their little white socks off while Lauren stayed in central midfield plating the important distribution role. Pick of the bunch was Brendan, Olivia, Dan L, Lauren Ben and Tim. Well done all and well attended. (crowd attendance estimated between 150-500) |
