Match Report |
A flying start to kick the 2010 Season off. Having lost a number of Star Players this year, the boys knew they all had to work alot harder and shoulder alot more responsibilty. Lots of effort and hard work had gone into training well before the first game. In the opening minutes Connor Stanners busted through the Penrith FC defence and was unlucky not to score. At the other end, Wonderkeeper Josh Cox pulled off a save that was unbelievable. The defense in front of him were awesome and Joshua was barely called into action again. Cameron Haywood slotted into the central defence and looked very classy with his distribution of the ball. Brandon Dejonge played his usual tough outstanding role supporting Cam. Kali Ferris-Smith moved into the midfield and scored three great goals. All very similar, he controlled the ball, beat defenders and fired off powerful shots. Nicholas Giles on his return to the Team scored a well taken goal. In a later head clash he showed how tough he is when he refused treatment. Cam scored the final goal, a great achievement for a defender to get that far up the field, but a great strike and nice reward. POTW went to Timothy Khina, he covered every inch of the park but did it in a disciplined fashion and showed a wonderful understanding of the game. He was faultless on the day, even his throw-ins were excellant! The parents were treated to a great display of football that will hopefully continue every week. |
