Match Report

Springwood is a huge Club and has five Under 11 Teams to get their grading spot on. We're a group of boys of all abilities who just love kicking a ball with their mates whilst trying to improve every week.

The spaces on the full size field looked huge as we reshaped ourselves with the available nine players. Isaac Morris looked a lonely figure as the lone striker but carved up the defence when we got the ball up to him.

We talked about how we needed to hold posession whenever we had the ball, otherwise we'd just face wave after wave of Springwood running it back at us. The boys followed the instructions to perfection, and we usually managed to carry the ball well into their half of the field. The first half ended 0-0 but we actually looked the more dominant team.

The second half was even more entertaining if that was at all possible. Both Teams sensing the game was winnable and urged by the the huge crowd, sought to make the breakthrough. With less than fifeteen minutes remaining the Opposition hit a lucky shot that bounced over the arms of Brandan Dejonge into the net. Similarly soon after, we scored a scrappy goal as Phillip Talbot put one into the net. Kali Ferris-Smith was unlucky when he met a corner kick with his head to watch it go agonisingly wide.

With the clock ticking down, a Springwood striker hit a well placed shot that just made it inside the post and left us 2-1 down. Blue Mtns remained focused and had been Coached to play until the Final Whistle, when we worked the ball up to Phillip Talbot. Phil let fly from outside the box and the shot would of been unstoppable for even Mark Shwartzer. 2 each and probably a fair result in an incredible game to witness.

POTM went to FLETCHER ALLISON, this year he is playing several grades above previous seasons, but fitted in perfectly at this level. The whole afternoon was one to be fondly remembered!

Goal Scorers PHILLIP TALBOT….a double on his rtn from injury.
Player of the Match FLETCHER ALLISON..outstanding!!!
