Match Report |
The weather was perfect and the delayed start to the Season was nearly forgotten. All teams had suffered very limited trial games and we had a late regrading which brought alot of new faces to the Team. Every boy settled in quickly; they were selected on talent, and they had to show it immediately in this lively encounter. It was an absolutely thrilling game to watch, either team could of won it; however, a Draw was probably the fairest result. Wil Cooke was asked to play as a Sweeper and showed a great understanding of the role. He was solid in defence, but still pushed up field enough to let fly with some long range shots. D’Arcy Salmon and Hunter Turl added to the stability of the defence, both having awesome games. The second half GK, Angus Callinan, made several brilliant saves and managed to keep the scoreline level after Jack Higgins had slotted home a well taken goal. Harrison Burns was always a threat up front, he looked sharp but was unlucky that the Springwood GK was in sensational form. Supporters from both camps thoroughly enjoyed the contest from under 10 boys, and must be excited by what the rest of the season has in store. At the end of every game a Question is asked – this week it was ‘The result and details of last week’s A League Grand Final?’. After several unsuccessful attempts, Ben Hurley not only informed us of the teams and the score, he also re-enacted the Besart Brisha miskick which resulted in a Penalty. It showed the confidence the boys have amongst each other! |
