Match Report

Swinger was very excited for this game. Being with an inferior mobile company in Vodafail, the text El Capitano had sent to the team in the week leading up to Sunday’s match had not come through properly on Swing’s mobile phone.

This is the actual text that was sent ‘Come to Knapsack with a big game plan to take on the Woodies on Sunday’.

This is the way the text was received by Swingy ‘Come to Knapsack with a big Woodie on Sunday’.

He was pumped as I am sure you can all imagine!!

Rooney was running late because he’d squeezed in a quick visit to the barber’s shop. He loves his new number 19 shirt sooo much he wanted to do something special for the game.

Mr Intensity was out with a small lake floating on his knee following a few heavy challenges in last week’s match. We were also shocked to hear that Noddy’s career is most likely over. Noddy has played for Blueys for many many years and absolutely loves the game. We’ll miss you on the pitch mate. Looking on the bright side, you can dip your hand in the esky at the beginning of the game instead of having to wait 90 minutes.

The first half was an evenly contested affair. We slowly got on top and Goodhew hit the bar with a bullet header and later on hit the ball so hard into the keepers gut I wondered if we’d ever see it again. La Celeste received the ball just inside the oppositions box. El Capitano has a new nickname in Motson as he talked La Celeste through what he needed to do next ‘Bet him, cut inside, finish it man’. Unfortunately he hit the post.

We eventually got the breakthrough. Stanley took a quick short corner to The Kaiser, who knocked it back to Swinger. In the time it normally takes for his towel to drop to the floor at The Club on a Friday night, Swinger whipped in a cross toward the penalty spot. Rooney hit it first time with his left past the agile Woodie keeper, 1-0 half time.

Things opened up a lot more in the second half. Rooney made it 2-0 with a driving run and shot. La Celeste was brought down in the box and made sure the ref knew that he felt he had been fouled. Motson stepped up and coolly slotted the resulting penalty kick past the keeper.

The Kaiser added two more. The first, a sweet outside of the boot finish after Matt Lucas had made another driving run into the oppositions box. The second a cracking drive from the edge of the box that got a slight deflection.

After the match Motto handed out a couple of medals. Cue Ball got his for running 25 kilometres plus in a game for the 100th game running. Swinger got his for his ability to put it in the box

POM was Swinger for a great defensive performance and setting up the first goal. Gotta love Vodafail!
