Top of the table clash – BMSC Wins
Blue Mountains 3 – 2 Blaxland
The Premier League “Match of the Round” between Blue Mountains and Blaxland turned out to be a cracker, Blue Mountains coming away with a 3-2 win. A big thank you to all the supporters who came along to watch and cheer the boys on.
Playing with 10 men for three quarters of the game Blue Mountains had to dig deep and so they did.
The half-time score was locked at 1-1 following an equaliser from Daniel Lownds. The second-half saw Blaxland score early from a direct free kick to once again hit the lead (1-2) but Blue Mountains continued to apply pressure around Blaxland’s goal eventually forcing an error which resulted in an own goal (2-2).
With the score 2-2, both teams fought hard, with play alternating from end to end. Dave Gordon couldn’t bear to watch as BMSC took a penalty shot (which was duely saved by the keeper). Around 15 minutes from full time Justin Burns scored after a great cross from Daniel Lownds from the left (3-2).
Blue Mountains Goalkeeper Nigel Lownds put his body on the line on a number of occasions with some magnificent saves particularly in the second half.
After the game Coach Dave Gordon said he was very pleased with the Team’s performance particularly considering they were a man down for the majority of the game.
