Match Report

Congratulations to 12.2, 13.2, AA.4, O35.1 and O35.4W in reaching the Finals.
Good luck on 23-24 August.

There it is in Black and White, the headline from the BMFC Website – we made the Final.

Three very exciting and close matches got us there!

We knew a Win against lowly St Clair would seal a Grand Final spot, we just had to be very disciplined and focused on these fifty minutes.

The boys responded perfectly, anyone of them could have won POTW; the Coach was at a loss, so he let the players decide. Billy Moar, Will Cooke and Gus Langworthy were popular nominations.

St Clair put up a brave fight, we had to really work hard to get the three points needed. Early efforts by Aiden Monaco and Billy Moar only just went over Cross Bar.

The goal that won it for us was a powerful volley from Gus Langworthy near the Penalty Spot. The ball bounced awkwardly for him, but he did everything right, and let fly with an unstoppable strike. His father, Brett, let on that Gus had spent many hours practicing his shooting at home against an overturned trampoline. It was probably our Goal of the Season.

Other highlights included absolutely wonderful deliveries from Will Cooke’s corner kicks. Chances went begging as he thundered the ball over, it’s something we’ll need to work on at Training to make the most of his talent.

In other areas of the field, Zac Lee, Billy Moar and Hunter Turl bravely faced and headed the many balls that the St Clair GK rained on them.

Josh Blewitt had his best game of the season and can be very proud of his contribution to making a very special day on 23 August.
