Match Report

It was a dark and stormy morning that the Over 35 Four Whites took on Jamisontown at the Cauldron. With fresh intel from Turtle at the World Cup, we knew what we had to do and Do it, we did!

The first half was scoreless but, importantly, we dominated play. Possession remained high, with loose balls being picked up and passes hitting their mark. There were a number of opportunities on goal but no banana for the half.

In the first 5 minutes of the second half we came out with the same intensity as the opposition. Thankfully we turned this up, re-took control, and developed some opportunities. One particular ball came out as far as The Fox and was swiftly returned with interest. A smashing volley, faster than the speed of sound, left the keeper with no chance!!

Then, from a regulation throw in from Shotgun (nice one Shotgun!) Dez pumped a left footer passed an outstretched keeper!! 2-0. As the half went on, more and more opportunities developed. Dirty and GB had shots from around the 18-yard box; BK was unlucky when he managed to get his head to a bending corner; and Brent was finding himself in space on the attack.

In honour of Turtle’s new intel … the final goal was to come from a counter attack. A ball popped out in our defensive quadrant; Disco turned and played in Crank; Crank ran the ball at a bewildered defence and held onto the ball just long enough before playing Disco back into the play with the perfect pass; Disco sees the keeper and shoots the ball across the keeper to the widest gap; the keeper manages to get a hand to the ball but could not stop its trajectory … into the history pages of the BMFC.

The game finished with a well deserved 3-0 scoreline. It was a great effort all over the park. Special mention to Slider who came to the game with a cold and left with a clean sheet (for half a game in goals) and kudos for his BBQ’ing prowess. Hollywood finished with another clean sheet (for his half in goals) and a very near miss in the first half! Finally, Tombraider who was nursing a sore head but managed to grind out a solid game in the backs.
