Match Report |
It was a dark and hazy night that the two Blue Mountains O35 Four teams faced off. Hazy because night games and short-sightedness don’t go together! Having checked with the Taxman after the game, I can now relay what happened. The team dominated the first half, working hard to maintain possession by moving the ball around. This resulted in a number of opportunities … and goals for Hollywood, GB and Grasshopper! The second half proved more difficult as we weren’t able to put our passes together, reverting to the old fashioned hoof from time to time! Nevertheless, the team pushed on creating a few opportunities which both The Fox and Tombraider took advantage of. I must admit to falling for The Fox a little after he scored off my last run for the night. Having taken the ball down the line, I looked up to see no-one nearby. I pulled the cross back and high and Hurley brought it down, moved the ball forward and put it to bed in the net. As for Tombraider’s removal from the nudyrun list … this started with an attack on the goal from Grasshopper. And as Grasshopper was sizing up the keeper, he noticed that Tombraider was alongside … a square ball in the 6 yard box, a snap shot from Tombraider and the score went to 5-0. The opposition put a goal home towards the end of the game and that’s where the score stayed. It was unusual playing against the team that we generally train with. But I’m sure this oddity helps both teams play better in the Division. Well done to the boys in purple. We’ve made it to the top of the ladder!!! p.s. Pirate adds his name to the long list of keepers with a clean sheet!
