Match Report: I thought we had the better of the first, but came away with no reward at the break. The conversation at half time was, “it’s going to take a gritty performance, with hard work and resolute defending.” From our team, that’s exactly what we got.
A few chances fell to each side, but it was the Ruby Blues who stole the cookies in the 87th minute. A well worked throw-in and then flick on by super sub Shannon – a tidy turn by Bridie Witjes and a defence splitting through ball to Tee. The right side flyer still had work to do, but showed a good turn of pace to leave the defender in her wake a produce a composed finish.
A special mention goes to the back four, including stand in Keeper Sadie, Annabell, Hannah and Lil Sash. A clean sheet in games like this is gold.
Everyone worked tirelessly and the reward was there.
